The Beaver Free Timed Run (4.44 miles)
6:30 pm. This is a FREE run presented by We Run Events. Note the distance is 4.44 miles, or a little over 7K. All we ask is that you bring a bag of pet food as your "entry fee," which we will donate to local animal shelters. It's the Summer Soltice (almost) so let's make the year's longest day something to remember! We will run from Shelter G, to the end of the beatiful Lakeside Trail and back. Post race pizza.
Please arrive as early as possible so we can get started on time. We have a time limit of 1h 30m so we can be out before the park closes, which should give everyone plenty of time to finish. The run is timed, but please understand that this is a group run (not a race). We will have a digital clock and kiosks where you can check your time when you finish the run. The roads will not be closed to vehicular traffic so please be careful on the roads. Parking is extremely limited so please plan accordingly and carpool if possible. Post-run pizza and goodies.

    Runnin' For A Young'un 5K
8:00 am, Rotary Shelter, Steele Creek Park. Come out on Saturday, July 27 for Runnin for a Youngun 5k run/walk to benefit the kids of Boys & Girls Club of the Mountain Empire. The race will begin at Rotary Shelter just inside the gates of Steele Creek Park. The majority of the race will be on Lakeside Trail which is down by the Lake with beautiful scenery. The finish line will be back at Rotary Shelter where you will have an opportunity to play in the Splash Pad after your amazing run!
All early registrants will receive a nice Runnin for a Youngun 5k t-shirt and medals will be awarded to over-all, masters and age group winners. Late registrations will receive T-shirts as they are available.
The Boys & Girls Club of the Mountain Empire has sites in Bluff City, Bristol Tennessee and Bristol Virginia, Abingdon and on the campus of UVA-Wise. Last year we served over 900 kids at these locations. The money raised at this event will enable us to continue to provide a safe place for youth in our area to go after school and in the summer. We depend on the generous support of our community to be able to fund these programs for the kids who need us most.
Come on out and have fun Runnin for a Youngun!
