3rd Annual Run for the Dogs 5K
9:00 a.m. Registration Opens
10:00 a.m. 5K race starts
The 3nd Annual Run for the Dogs 5K race registration and start are behind Knights Pizza west of roundabout at Jack Vest & Go Bucs Trail. Mountain Empire Chapter of Military Officers Associations of America (MECMOAA) and Student Veterans Association (SVA) Chapter of ETSU are sponsoring this race in support of placing a professionally-trained service dog with a veteran to mitigate the effects of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Traumatic Brain Injury, and/or Military Sexual Trauma. Early registration (by August 28th) guarantees you a commemorative event t-shirt; late registration does not guarantee you a shirt, but we will do our best to accommodate you.

    Goliath at the Gorge
    Northeast Tennessee's TOUGHEST race is Saturday, October 20, 2018. The Goliath at the Gorge offers 10k, 5k & kid's race options. The 5k & 10k courses consist of steep inclines, over 15 obstacles, river crossings, water and mud challenges. Please come prepared to get muddy, wet, sandy and tired. Lodging & showers available for an additional fee. Doe River Gorge's Open House will take place this weekend as well with music, food and train rides through the Gorge. Special Awards for the top male and female DRG current/former staffers. Showers, Gear Check and supplies available for an additional donation. Proceeds from items go to Camp Scholarships for under resourced kids.

    This 5k & 1-Mile Run is brought to you by Niswonger Children's Hospital. A Modified Race (200-meter) will begin at 1:45 p.m. with the 5k starting at 2 p.m. and 1-Mile Run starting at 2:10 p.m. This is an USATF-Certified course (good for TN state age records) starting and finishing at Founders Park. The event is open to all ages. The entry fee is only $10. Race participants that register by Oct. 5th are guaranteed to receive a t-shirt and finishers medal. After the race, the community is welcome to join us for Family Activities Day.

    Monster Mile at Haunted Half Marathon
    10:15 am. The Monster Mile will start 15 minutes after the start of the Haunted Half Marathon. This is a new race which will be adult, kid, stroller, AND dog friendly! Feel free to dress up and make the Monster Mile even spookier! All finishers will receive a miniature pumpkin! The course will be certified and everyone will be timed, but in the "spirit" of a fun family event, there will be no awards.

    This is a FREE, timed fun run on the beautiful Virginia Creeper Trail sponsored by the State of Franklin Track Club.

    The Bridge & Trestle 17 Mile Run is back for 2018, but with a twist. This year we’re going flip-flop and for the first time ever, run from Whitetop DOWN to Damascus! There will be prizes for the 1st overall male and female and finisher awards for all. Participants will be required to sign a waiver and wear a bib to be timed and counted for any awards. Timing will end at 5:15PM (15 Min. Pace)

    This run is part of the State of Franklin Track Club Trail Series and Long Distance Series competitions. Come out and join your fellow runners on this beautiful trail from Whitetop Station, which is near the top of the second highest peak in Virginia, and run along Laurel Creek. The finish line and post-run party will be at the Creeper Trail Cottages which is right at Mile Marker 16.

    Beautiful course on grounds of Holston Army Ammunition Plant with no traffic through the wooded grounds on paved roads that you will share with wildlife. Pets, bicycles, skateboards, and roller blades, are strictly prohibited on the course. Baby joggers and strollers allowed on the 5K course only. 3 hr time limit on the half marathon course.     YWCA Women's Turkey Trot 5K Run/Walk
    8am. The Turkey Trot is an event hosted by the YWCA Women's Fitness Center that encourages women to achieve their fitness goals. It is the longest running women's 5K in the Tri-Cities that features joggers and walkers of all skill levels. Every year, the YW cheers on first-time participants and veteran runners who achieve a new personal best. The race route is certified by USA Track and Field. All proceeds from the race benefit the health and wellness programs of the YWCA's Women's Fitness Center.

    10:00 am. Barter Theatres inaugural Holiday Hustle will feature a 5-K + 1-mile walk/fun run, and a costume contest. Proceeds from this family and pet-friendly event will support Barter Theatres programs and activities in furtherance of its mission of Enriching Lives Through Extraordinary Theatre. Participants of all skill levels can participate in the 5-K run/walk on Abingdons Creeper Trail, one of the countrys premier rail-trails. The race will be themed around Barter’s upcoming holiday production of ELF: The Musical and those who wish to can participate dressed as a character from the show.     10 am. The 2nd Annual Union Half Marathon will start and end at the Visitor Center in Big Stone Gap, VA. This race is part of the Beast Half Marathon Series in 2019! The course will utilize the paved Greenbelt Trail in Big Stone and then unite with the newly created paved Powell River Trail in Appalachia, VA. Participants will be able to go through the two old train tunnels that make up the Powell River Trail.     If you're looking for a scenic venue, a fast but challenging course and awesome post-race activities, then look no further! The Greene County YMCA Sprint Triathlon appeals to veterans and beginners alike. Join us for our 2nd Annual triathlon in beautiful Greeneville, TN. This race includes a 150-yard indoor swim, a 12.02-mile bike ride through charming country roads and a 5K (3.1-mile) run through historical downtown Greeneville. Awards will be presented to top overall, age group and relay finishers. This event is not USAT Sanctioned.

    7:05 PM Adults Mile (After Boy's mile is finish) (Both Men & women)
    The mile is free & low key (no awards, no shirts) and is part of the SFTC KFOM & Adult Mile series. You need to fill out an entry form on race day to run in the race. Qualifies for TN State records.

    Volunteering counts toward SFTC Volunteer Points & K&Q & LDS requirements.
