The Johnson City Group Run

    REACH OUT 5K COLOR RUN

    Come to the fourth annual REACH OUT 5K COLOR RUN - Reaching out to help Orphans across the world August 18th, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. This is a great 5K COLOR Run/Walk in the beautiful city of Gatlinburg. The course is an out and back course with gentle rolling hills. Start and finish will be at 1230 Mills Park Rd. The course will follow Mills Park Rd to Ogle Rd follow Ogle Rd to the end and return. We will also have a SILENT AUCTION with lots of cool things to bid on.

    All proceeds will go to support orphanages in Indonesia. These orphanages are changing the lives of children. They are providing these kids with a home, love, school, and teaching them about Jesus. Jesus said, "Suffer the little children to come unto me..." He loves the children of the world. Do you? These orphanages are run by Bill and Lamoin Cunningham through Baptist International Outreach.

    The race registration is $30 for Adults and $20 for Kids up to age 17 which includes a race t-shirt and a swag bag. Please register by August 9th to guarantee a t-shirt. This event is a great opportunity to Reach Out and help others while having a great time and getting some exercise.
    Prizes: Trophies will be awarded to the top three overall male and female runners. The trophies are unique hand made pottery made by Fowler's Clay Works and the medals are unique wooden pieces made by Tim Weberding Woodworking. Medals will be awarded to the top male and female runners in each age division.

    The Back in the Day K is a 70's themed 10K run and 5K walk/run. This crazy fun event is coming your way August 25, 2018 so get out your sweatbands, leotards, knee high tube socks, and anything else that is way, way back in your closet. The 5K and 10K certified courses take full advantage of the picturesque setting along the Stone's River Greenway at Kohl’s Trail Head. The 10K run starts at 6:50 a.m. and the 5K run/walk is at 7:00 a.m. Families, including dogs, are welcome! In fact, this event benefits Agape Animal Rescue. What better way to make a difference than to rescue man’s best friend and change the life of a family and a dog forever. We’ll see you there!

    8:30 p.m. - Come try your hand at breaking a Tennessee State 2 Mile Record. These have only been available for about 4 years and many are still easy targets!     Nolichucky Triple Threat - Whitewater Raft + Obstacle Course + 5K Run
    3:00 pm. The Triple Threat starts at USA Raft on the whitewaters of the Nolichucky River with a trek down the Noli, where participants will emerge on a sandy beach where the timing portion of the event will begin. The second stage is an obstacle challenge course with many obstacles, including sand crawl, water wall, balance beam, and more. The 3rd stage is a 5K Run back to USA Raft. For the final stretch of the 5K, you will run 3/4 mile on the Appalachian Trail and complete one last obstacle before crossing the finish line!
    If you are a newbie to the sport of watercrafting, USA Raft will be offering free "Water 101" lessons prior to the race. Arrive around 1pm. Optional: If you do not feel comfortable on the water, you can ride a trail bike to the start of the Obstacle Course.
    The timing portion of the race starts when you exit the water and cross the timing mats at the start of the Obstacle Course.

    This course will be CHALLENGING. Would you expect anything less from Marines?
    It consists roughly of 3 miles of off-road running, which entails some obstacles, hills, and of course, mud pits. Wear old clothing and shoes. This off road 5K adventure takes you across scenic trails and fields, obstacles, mud, and water. It is open to individuals and teams. Be prepared for some real clean fun! Melton Hill Lake and local Rural Metro Fire Dept is available for those who will need to be cleansed afterwards...
    Marines will make sure you sucessfully complete their course! Ooh-rah!

    YWCA Women's Turkey Trot 5K Run/Walk
    8am. The Turkey Trot is an event hosted by the YWCA Women's Fitness Center that encourages women to achieve their fitness goals. It is the longest running women's 5K in the Tri-Cities that features joggers and walkers of all skill levels. Every year, the YW cheers on first-time participants and veteran runners who achieve a new personal best. The race route is certified by USA Track and Field. All proceeds from the race benefit the health and wellness programs of the YWCA's Women's Fitness Center.
